Medical and Interview

 

Congratulations!

you have made it this far in  the visa process  is almost done.Time to relax for a minute. Send your wife some flowers and/or chocolates

When you have receive the interview  instruction letter and E-mail from the NVC that your interview has been schedule with instructions on how to schedule your medical ( also know as  packet 3)

 

 The letter will pobably say you should complete medical with in certain amount of days before interview. I will recomend doing it within  two weeks of interview. Your asawa will need to bring a copy of  the letter/E-mail to the medical

You do not want to do your medical too early as the expiration date for you to use the visa to come to the U.S.A is the date of your medical not the date the visa is issue.

 

You should go on-line at St luke to register for medical. You or your Asawa can do that. It will save some time at St Lukes.

Do not worry if you do not or can not find medical records. St lukes will determine what vaccinations is needed

 

In most cases it will take 2 days for the medical even if you arrived very early in the morning. A hotel I will recomend is Casabocobo if your asawa is not in Manila and have to travel there.

Once the medical is complete. you should receive yellow envelope  to take to interview . Unless you have to do other tests. Again I do not like to think negative, but that does happen. If it does, you will need to follow orders. Remember you made it this far it is only a minor set back

 

                           Interview Time

You do not have to attend the interview with your wife. If you can that is great. If not that is ok. I was unable to attend the interview with my wife and the interview went well.

 

 About the interview.You have 100 questions divide into 4 sections of 25 questions each and 15 minutes to do each section.

No you do not have a 100 questions. Now that I have your attetion it is time to relax. From what my wife told me and from reading   about others who have done the interview. It seems  the interview is fairly simple and easy. If you are prepare and have all the documents needed, the documents need to be the original  

 

 One thing that is not metion for documents to bring in interview letter is CENOMAR. Yes your filipina spouse will need to bring an orignal copy to interview. Do not let the name confuse you.( Your spouse will actually  recieve a letter for advisory of marriage.) It is still call a cenomar. The name is the same for single or married. The letter receive is different

single= certificate of no marriage

married= advisory of marriage.

 

one other thing I will advise is to bring pictures to interview.How you present the pictures is up to you. they can be black and white, color, printed on photo paper or plain paper.My wife made a nice small photo Album. that she took to the interview. Your asawa  can also bring  copies of text and/or chat msg,  but they aew not needed. I sent my wife more text and chat message. The consular officer did not even bother to look at them

. 

.You do not have to bring   a copy of the AOS packet to the interview as the NVC should of sent it to the Embassy. However I will recomend doing so. As stuff can get lost or misplace. I sent my wife copy of the AOS. packet she told me the interviewing officer did not ask for it, but i will still recomend doing so. Note there  are   no electronic equipment of any kind  allow so leave all equipment at home unless you want to pay someone to hold it for you.

 

Questions! I know you are wondering what kind,  how many . Again relax the questions are very bascis. there are three to five questions. My wife told me she only had 3 questions. I have heard the same from others who have done the interview there. The Important thing is to be relax.

 

 Helpful advice at the interview

Wear the appropiate clothing, look at the officer when you are being ask a question, Only answer what is ask of you.  Refrain from unnessary info. You do not need to provide any more information then what is ask  and there is no need to.

Double, triple check all  documents.

Rememeber you need a copy of the Cenomar even if  it is not listed in the documents to bring.

If you need to travel to Manila for the interview a decent hotel i will recommend is the bayview park hotel but ther are others hotel too that is close to the embassy

 

 

                                     green card procesing  fee

 

congratlations on your visa approval  . However there is one more fee to pay. the green card processing fee. You did not really think the USA will let you come over that easy did you?

The fee is $165.00 . anyone can pay the fee. The fee has to be paid from a US bank account  To pay the fee you can go to

ELIS website or the USCIS website and click on ELIS. You can not pay the fee untill your visa is approve. You will need the Alien Registration Number (A-Number) and DOS Case ID.

You can find your A-Number and DOS Case ID on your immigrant data summary, USCIS Immigrant Fee handout, or immigrant visa stamp. Your A-Number is the letter “A” followed by eight or nine numbers (such as A012345678). Your DOS Case ID is three letters followed by nine or 10 numbers (for example, XYZ0123456789).

 If your A-Number is fewer than nine digits, insert a zero after the “A” and before the first digit to create a nine-digit number. For example, “A12345678” would become “A012345678."

 

You can pay the fee before arriving in the U.S , or up to a year after you arrive. When you pay It is up to you.If for some reason your address in the USA has change or will change. Your asawa can update the new address at the POE in the U.S.A arriving  at  .

 

 I paid the fee  before my wife came.Her Social security card arrive in about 10 days.Her green card arrive in about 5 weeks.I have heard of others who had waited longer.
